I bought a Maxtor 1gb that corrupts my computer. Seagate/Maxtor response was very good, except when I tried to respond to their email. There are no "Between the lines" and therefore the response was rejected. Likewise this forum, I had to reduce the security on my computer in order to write this email. Maybe Seagate needs to clean up their management as well as improve the product.

Hi gendelpost,

In order for us to be able to address your issues we need more specific information.

What email were you trying to respond to, and specifically what error message did you encounter.   Specifically I can't figure out what you mean by "between the lines".

Regarding the forum,  Specifically what security settings on your computer are you refering to?    I have not heard this complaint from other users before.   The forum does in fact use a "first party" cookie to track your login, but doesn't use anything such as unsigned active X controls thats are a danger to users and posters.

Please provide specific details of your experience.  If you do not wish to post this information publically here on the thread you may contact me privately using the forums messenger function.  Look for the envelope icon in the upper right corner of this page.

Thanks for your interest in the Seagate Support Forum.

Please post a question on FreeAgent drives in the FreeAgent forum.

Hi jaeger

I just bought two days ago a freeagent desk 1Tb when i connected the external hard drive it did ask to install the software and all the installation went well. I rebooted the computer and all went well.

Today i restarted the computer with the external hard drive connected and on power ......The computer start but the screen of my laptop is black and i see a dot flashing and the windows xp home edition don't load. I had to shut down the computer and disconnected the hard drive and reboot the computer and windows load with out problem. Then i did connet the external hard drive and it did load. I powered the computer of and did restart and the same problem happen. I read many of this issues and used seatools and all is ok with the drive.

What is my problem and how to load that external hard drive?

I feel possibly the external hard drive is to large to be laod by my laptop dell inspiron 6400. Can it be that or in dos ?

Thanks mate

Kudos!

Hello Jaeger,

I would be happy to be more specific on Seagate support need to improve or clean up over Maxtor products.

Ten (10) days ago I used the support pages to send an E-Mail to support requesting help.  I have yet to hear back.  I think in 10 days I should hear something - even something as simple as we're still working on your problem please bear with us.

The details to this problem are at: http://forums.seagate.com/stx/board/message?board.id=onetouch&thread.id=4565 -- I'm not wanting to duplicate the same issue in multiple places.  I'm only adding my two cents here that Seagate is (or seems to be) ignoring Maxtor issues.

If Seagate doesn't want the responsiblities for Maxtor former product maybe Seagate should spin Maxtor back off as it own independent company - otherwise suck it up and support your new customers (or when we need to buy we'll not stay).

Honestly, I've had, till now, a very high opinion of Seagate.  I got involved with Seagate back during the mid 1980's while I was working for Cray Research, Inc.  I was the lead techical developer at Cray on the Cray - StorageTek 4400 - IBM (VM & MVS) software development teams.

Anyway, I'm just wanting to get my drive running again (first) and wouldn't mind knowing why after 10 day no one from Seagate contacted me about my E-Mail (though I'm willing to forgo that if I can get answer to my primary question).

Thanks in advance for any and all support you can provide.  I'll appreciate it!

Kudos!
