I recently got a 2TB FreeAgent Xtreme and it seems to have died for some reason - the Seagate Manager states there was a problem with it and it suggested I get it replaced. I have all the original packaging, but it didn't come with an anti-static bag or covering. Apart from that, I have the original box plus the cardboard bracers that hold it in place, the packing box has foam insulation and I can seal up the box and put the postage on that. Is this okay, or is the anti-static packing a requirement? Also, as an aside, I use HD Sentinel to monitor the condition of my disks and something both my Xtreme drives consistently show is that they are overheating. They both show a temp of around 55 degrees centigrade no matter where I put the drives and my room isn't exactly suited for having my fan sitting and pointing at them all the time. Is this normal? My 1TB drive works fine and I've had it for ages, and HD Sentinel has consistently reported this drive as running hot. Thanks!
