I have a 1TB drive affected by the bug according to the "Check serial"-app. The DriveDetect tool says: Model: ST31000340AS, Serial: <snip>, Firmware: SD15 This page says:
Note: With regards to Barracuda 7200.11, Barracuda ES.2 SATA, and DiamondMax 22 drives sold in December 2008, please reference Firmware Recommendations for Seagate Drives to see if a firmware update is recommended for your drive.
But, the link does not work.
I have mailed discsupport@seagate.com for instructions on how to minimize the risc for dataloss. Message Edited by andeks on 01-19-2009 01:24 AM Message Edited by andeks on 01-19-2009 01:31 AM

The menu after rebooting with the downloaded CD image:
The result of option A):
Now heading out to find an open store, buying another disk as soon as possible, to replace this one with. The disk still boots but only after a few retries. The label of the disk: Message Edited by andeks on 01-19-2009 01:15 AM Message Edited by andeks on 01-19-2009 01:53 AM
